Nguyễn Văn Nam was a composer from Pleiku, Vietnam. He spent his life bringing happiness to others through his music.
Born in suburban Saigon, Nguyễn Văn Nam grew up in Pleiku where he learned about philosophy from his father and compassion from his mother. He met the first love of his life, the guitar, at an early age and had never placed it down since.
Family. The youngest of 6 children, Nguyễn Văn Nam had to grow up quickly to keep up with his siblings and he was thrust into adulthood at an early age as the war waged on, as he lost both his brothers, his parents, and his country.
Loyalty. Nguyễn Văn Nam volunteered to join the South Vietnamese army at an early age and as his country fell, he stayed behind to take care of his father and brother in the last few years of his father's life.
Love. Nguyễn Văn Nam spent the last years in Vietnam without his family but found solace through his friends and community. He later escaped Vietnam where he met his wife, Anh Thư, his life partner, his muse, on a boat traveling the tumultuous seas to an unknown land.
Tình Nghĩa Yêu Thương. The central philosophy of his life and the inspiration to his music.
