THANK YOU

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for all the love and support we have received since the passing of our beloved husband and father. We appreciate every phone call, text message, voicemail, letter, e-mail, flower, food, and other gifts from family, friends, and organizations in the last few weeks. There were even those who flew in from out of town and many who gave a significant amount of time and resources to help our family through this difficult period.

We would like to especially thank those who helped us make Nguyễn Văn Nam’s Celebration of Life come to fruition. One of his last wishes was to have a Celebration of Life where we would remember and celebrate his life with love, music, and happy memories. He did not want his family or friends to be sad or cry for him; he noted previously that he has felt so much sadness and sorrow in his life and thus did not want anyone else to feel this pain. He originally wanted to “entertain” everyone with video recordings of his music, but given his unexpected passing, he was unable to create these videos in time. Given the deep love his family and friends have for him in wanting to fulfill this wish, in a week’s time, we were able to put together a highlight of his songs we believed he would have wanted everyone to hear. Despite the rain and short notice of this event, we were touched by the number of people who attended and supported his vision of a “funeral.” Our husband and father has always had an “ocean of love” for his family, friends, and community, but we were surprised and uplifted by the number of people who have shared with us how he has touched their lives as well.

We love and miss him so much. Our lives will never be the same, and his absence will be particularly hard with each passing celebration or holiday in the coming years. It comforts us to know that he is now reunited with his late parents, older sister, two older brothers, and first grandchild. Like him, we believe one day “we will see each other (again), if we intend to.”
